The Scottish Arms Announces Closure After 20 Memorable Years A Heartfelt Farewell from The Scottish Arms It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of The Scottish Arms. After many wonderful years serving the St. Louis community, we will be closing our doors after service on Sunday 28th July, marking the end of Ally Nisbet’s era owning and operating The Scottish Arms.
From the day we opened in May, 2005, The Scottish Arms has been more than just a restaurant; it has been a gathering place for friends, families, and our cherished regulars. Our goal was always to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, where the community could come together to enjoy good food, drink, and company. We have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve you, our loyal patrons, and to be a part of your lives. Our team at The Scottish Arms has been the heart and soul of our establishment. Their dedication, passion, and hard work have made this place what it is. We want to express our deepest gratitude to every member of our staff, past and present, for their unwavering commitment and love for what they do. Without their efforts, The Scottish Arms would not have been the beloved spot that it became. The last few months have been especially challenging while we were finishing negotiations with new owners. All our current crew have been incredible and deserve a huge thank you. A special thank you to Chef Kristin Smart, and Chef Rico Holts, who have worked incredibly hard ensuring our guests got the highest standard of culinary delights.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Michael Cline, our General Manager, who has been with us since we first opened our doors in 2005. The Scottish Arms would not be what it is today without Mike’s unwavering commitment and personal sacrifices. He has led our team through numerous challenges, and his service to our community and guests has been extraordinary. Mike’s dedication, hard work, and passion have been a constant source of inspiration for us all.
To our regulars, words cannot express how much your support has meant to us. You have been with us through thick and thin, celebrating milestones and creating countless memories within our walls. Your loyalty and friendship have been the cornerstone of our success, and for that, we are eternally grateful. As we say goodbye, we want to thank each and every one of you who walked through our doors. Your smiles, laughter, and stories have filled our pub with life and joy. It has been our absolute pleasure to serve you, and we hope that The Scottish Arms will always hold a special place in your hearts, as it will in ours.
Though we are closing, the spirit of The Scottish Arms will live on in the memories we’ve created together. We invite you to join us in these final days to celebrate the legacy of our pub, to raise a glass, and to toast to the many wonderful years we’ve shared.
As I put pen to paper back in 2003 sketching up plans and ideas for The Arms, I thought about a lovely phrase we use back in Scotland.
“Happy to meet, sorry to part, happy to meet again”
“Lang may yer lum reek”
We look forward to seeing you all one last time to celebrate the history and community we've built together.
Thank you for being a part of our family. Slàinte mhath!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Ally Nisbet Owner, The Scottish Arms
Other information: We were in the process of an ownership change, but it unfortunately fell through at the last minute. We are still working to secure new ownership and/or investors to keep the Arms going.
